Proper Ventilation Can Minimize Mold Problems

April 28th, 2010

Roofers, facility managers and HVAC contractors have come to Empire Ventilation Equipment Company for over sixty years to buy ventilating equipment that will meet their need for improved venting in roofs, attics, crawl spaces and other areas with naturally poor air circulation. They want to improve circulation to reduce the risk of mold contamination.

Mold contamination can cause serious illness. It occurs in poorly vented spaces such as attics, crawl spaces and basements.  In addition, airtight homes suffer from contamination in warmer months when humidity reaches high levels inside the house, and moisture is trapped.  For more than a half a century my family has offered up a solution to minimizing mold contamination that is relatively inexpensive, effective and economically friendly.

First my great uncles ran our plant, took orders and gave advice to the tradesmen, engineers, contractors and roofers who serviced the homeowners and property managers who were most affected by mold. My father assumed the mantle more than thirty years later.  Now I find myself helping run the factory alongside my father and giving advice to the craftsmen and professionals who work in the industry.

Over the years Empire has become known for consistently producing many of the world’s best Turbine, Soffet, Siphon, Eveco and Insul-vents. We also pioneered designer vents, making products out of copper, stainless steel and aluminum in addition to galvanized vents.  In addition, we have continued to make earth friendly products in spite of market pressure to find cheaper, less earth friendly materials in order to gain market share.

If you are looking to minimize mold problems in your closed or poorly ventilated spaces Empire will have the venting solution that is right
for you.  If you need advice or guidance about venting we are ready to share our sixty years of experience with you.

American Pride Drives Empire Ventilator to Excellence

February 4th, 2010

Empire Ventilation is pleased to announce that manufacturing in America is still good business. There was a time when one could say “Made in America” and feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Nowadays though, an ever increasing number of domestic businesses, driven by the hope of saving money, have decided to import goods made in foreign countries. But, there are still some companies that choose to make their products here.

According to its management, one of the best examples of this is Empire Ventilation Equipment Company. Empire is a New York based manufacturer that has been supplying customers with some of the best known and highly regarded ventilator products such as turbine vents, siphon vents, louvers for over seventy years. Founded by two brothers, who, in 1933 went on to serve in World War II, the business continues to be family–owned through the present day.

“We never set out to restore people’s confidence in buying domestic products, but we’re delighted that our loyalty to the U.S. is reflected in the choices we’ve made to use high quality materials and manufacture our products here,” says Brian Taylor, Vice President and Secretary of Empire. “It obviously makes good business sense, too, because the materials we use are very cost-efficient. So, we can price our equipment competitively, customers are happy with the quality and everybody wins.”

“Empire not only manufactures its ventilator products in America, many of the materials we use to construct our ventilators and ventilator parts are made from recyclable materials” says George Taylor, the president of the company.

Old Fashioned Ingenuity Becomes Today’s Environmentally Friendly Solution

February 4th, 2010

Whatever one’s stance on global warming happens to be, rising temperatures are driving everyone to find the best way to cool homes down. Today’s customers are more concerned than ever before with buying products that are environmentally sound and affordable. But long before the need for “green” technology was defined, turbine vents were being made and sold, and consumers were ahead of the game – saving money and being ecologically responsible.

These ventilators are energy efficient. They’re wind and convection driven, requiring no man-made fuel at all. In addition to functionality, designers find them appealing because they can be made in stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized and copper.

“We’ve seen a sharp rise in turbine ventilator sales in the last several years,” says Brian Taylor of Empire Ventilation Equipment, a New York based company which has been in business for over sixty years. Though turbine vents have been on the market for decades, the growing focus on solving environmental challenges has made them something of a rediscovery. “Customers are looking to go “green” and we help them save fuel and money at the same time,” Taylor adds. “We’re very proud of the fact that more than 95 % of our products are environmentally friendly and fashioned out of recycled and recyclable metals.”
